Victoria Slight is a digital illustrator based in Ottawa, Ontario, specializing in children’s illustrations. Victoria received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Honours Specialization in Studio Arts from Western University in 2016, and a Diploma of Early Childhood Education from Algonquin College in 2022. She has illustrated three books, including The Clever Crop, a wordless comic that follows a carrot character as they navigate the challenge of having too much leafy hair. The story invites readers of all ages to create a new narrative each time they read it.
Victoria’s illustrations are playful and colourful, focusing on animal and food characters. She strives to work on projects that encourage inclusivity and bring joy to readers of all ages and abilities.
Victoria draws inspiration from nature and daily life, and her love for gardening, biking, and being outdoors frequently finds its way into her art. As a military spouse, she has lived in several provinces, and has had the opportunity to explore most of Canada with her family. This has inspired her to focus on details that are specific or relatable to Canada. When she isn’t drawing children’s illustrations, you can find her urban sketching and drawing the flowers in her garden with gouache paint.
Victoria is currently looking for representation and is open to collaborations. For inquiries, contact Victoria at victoriaslight@gmail.com.
